Poppies and other blooms in the Garden of the Wittys

⛲ Hot Springs, AR Family Vacation in 19 Hours Pt II

Family Vacation at Hot Springs continued...
Our first thing was getting some breakfast. We managed to stop at a mom and pop place downtown called The Pancake Shop. Reminded me of Stephenville's Jake & Dorothy's or Dublin's Granny Clarks. It was seriously delicious and the kids also enjoyed it! This place was so small, we waited about half an hour at the shop next door.

Well, nothing like breeze-cruising back home from a visit with family. After we visited for several days with family in Memphis, we made a "quick" stop at Hot Springs on the way back home.

Memphis! A Witty Spring Break Pt. III

Yes, welcome to Pt III of our Memphis Witty Vacation! We tried to jam pack as many things of Memphis as we could, but I promise this is the last Memphis Post 😇 ..but I really should make another. Hold on to your butts and get ready for a picture-packed post.
Be sure to catch up on Post I & Post II
We decided to go eat some grub at Huey's in Downtown and afterwards, we would stop at The Peabody Hotel to see the ducks.
Huey's was pretty fun. We tried their beers and their fries were so good! Definitely recommend, especially since the boys were smitten about shooting their toothpicks into the ceiling and getting them stuck and Elena tagged the bathroom with a Sharpie.

Memphis! A Witty Spring Break Pt II

You won't believe it but after Beale Street, Cozy Corner BBQ and the Pink Palace, we managed to still find energy to stop at the Shelby Farms Park which is 4500 acres big inside Memphis. We saw deer freely roaming the rolling hills while we tried finding our way to the Discovery Playground they have. It looked so fun online and we were in for a treat as soon as we arrived.
As soon as the kids saw the massive playground, they took off! I was having a hard time catching them with my camera...

Memphis! A Witty Spring Break

We decided that for last year's Spring Break, we would drive to Memphis, Tennessee to visit some family.

Free Thursdays

Once in a while, I get real courageous and take the kids downtown to the Free Museum Thursdays. We only get 3 hours of free fun + overpriced parking. And it's worth it, sometimes. I love to visit the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and the kids love going to the Children's Museum Houston. Witty obviously had other things to do because he was absent this time. It's fine though, he likes it that way.

Crafts and KitKat

Last year, we spent Easter weekend at the Aranda farm! We love going to Moomie & Granpop's and doing crafts and pigging out on chips & salsa (Texas' Official State Snack btw) Moomie makes the best salsa, for real. And Dawna as the balloon lady, was just thee best.

Easter 🐤🥚

Well, this post was almost timed perfectly---Easter, One Year Later--should be the title, right? Easter is around the corner for 2020 but here are last year's pictures. The Easter bunny brought some goodies for all the kids (it was me and they knew it, ha). I don't normally do this but I think Caren had also bought some stuff for Leo so it worked out perfectly. The kids liked their gifts but honestly, they were here for the Easter Egg Hunt. So the day followed our normal protocol: It was church, lunch, and Easter Egg Hunt! Sunday Tradition 😄

Rockport 🌊 and some mud bugs

Spring in Texas is my favorite y'all! This post is from last year (duh) but it sure brings such sweet memories. Brother and Sis-in-law invited us over to their house one weekend to eat mud bugs! They offered us some sweet southern hospitality and we came running (we actually drove in our van, but you get the point). So off we headed to see family we rarely see nowadays and the kids were so excited to see their cousins!

🌸 Spring in Texas 🌸

 ...from 2019
It's that time again where people stop on the side of the road to squat at wildflowers in Texas. While the Bluebonnet is the official wildflower of Texas, my preference however is the Indian Paintbrush. It is an annual hemiparasitic flower that is more abundant than Bluebonnet at times. This species is Castilleja indivisa. I found a huge field of them right outside the small town of Dublin when we went to visit my mother. The kids came with me and the sun was just about to set. Hurry kids, hurry!
