Memphis! A Witty Spring Break

We decided that for last year's Spring Break, we would drive to Memphis, Tennessee to visit some family.

The boys took turns riding shotgun while Mom and Elena made crafts in the backseat. And while the boys napped, teehee! I got the idea to mess with them 😂
We made a pit-stop in Jefferson, Texas and I actually blogged about it here. Love detours like those.
So we finally made it to the cute little apartment house that belongs to my brother and his amazing wife. They made us feel right at home and immediately made us some cheese balls, Pão de Queijo, which are freaking scrumptious.
The next day, we made some breakfast and headed downtown to Beale Street without a real idea of where to go. Just sight see, I guess. We walked around and went into a couple of cute little shops. Carl said we needed to hold off on lunch because he wanted to take us to some Memphis BBQ place.
Andrew decided that he was going to buy chattering teeth with his own money. He played with them all trip long.
Just walked all along and saw some cool things. Glad it was daylight and semi-empty, though. Not sure if it would have been appropriate for the kiddos to walk down Beale Street 😅
I really wanted to check out this bar called Silky O'Sullivan's because the facade of an old building was held in place with big steel beams. It was the most surreal looking place. I absolutely loved its charm.
And what's this? Goats too? This place was fantastic! Apparently these goats are a thing!
After the boys and Gary used the restrooms, and Gary dropped his phone in the toilet, we set off again. More walking, more pictures.
We found a couple of murals. Carl was trying to pump Elena up for an epic picture....but
Andrew definitely was a team player, though.
We were in for a treat y'all. Carl had talked up this BBQ place and we were gonna totally love it. And when we arrived, our jaws dropped from shock. This was the place. Good ol' Memphis BBQ. It was good though, just different than Texas BBQ!
That day just happened to have Free Entry to Memphis' Pink Palace Museum. You know how much I like Free Museums right? Well, we made our way over to the Pink Palace Museum. This place is ginormous, it took us the entire full 2 hours to walk through most of it.
We were all pretty pooped out by the end. But that place is so amazing! So many displays, such a neat building, and it was free!
