30 sucks, guys...

uh! finally the photos of my weekend bash at Galveston, TX! i have to say, that hauling an entire gang in a van and a car sure made it for a jam-packed weekend...kids were involved so we didn't get too wild.
the night before my birthday, my sister finally came in all the way from ft. worth with her little family and coaxed my other sister to build me a surprise balloon door. it was hysterical for my 5 year old who always wants to be the first one up.
and all weekend long, we were kicking and shooing balloons out of our way. balloons. balloons for days!
SURPRISE! i'm 30.
we took it easy that day. we played card games, swam, went to the beach, etc. then, i was promptly shooed out of the room so that they could get ready for my birthday bash out on the beach. even though i had no idea what was happening because they kept it a pretty good secret. all i knew was that we were going to the beach, tan-tan. well, and that maybe i would have some ceviche that day because mom packed some fish :) well, and that i was also going to be having a good time with all that booze my lovely sister brought. did i have a good time that day? YES. I. DID.
so hubby took me to see some sights in downtown Galveston (so lovely, by the way), and also only taking this photo at Murdoch's...whoever took our photo is completely fired by the way... i really can't believe i didn't take that many pictures--i find it hard to take photos of both of us together.
on our way back, i think everyone started to worry about the weather. the one day that was my birthday, it had to storm...and it was pretty violent. but i guess we were all hoping it was gonna be a small storm? because they went ahead and set it up anyway.
my husband spent i don't know how long carving my name on the beach while my sister furiously got to work on my little 'soiree'.
these photos were taken before it started to pour on them...everyone suffered that evening. it all looked perfect...it would have been perfect had it not been for the weather! but that poor little tent didn't make it but a few fierce gusts of wind...when i came down from the walkway to see the beautiful setup, everyone was trying to hold down that poor tent. i still can't figure out how the heck she managed to fit her generator in her trunk. ha!
so, we had no choice but to move the party under some cover beside the pool during the storm because i was not about to give up on my shindig...no way. we did the best we could with what we salvaged from the storm and everyone who setup/tore down was huffin' and puffin'...do you know how hard it is to carry all that half a mile in the sand? ask my husband. yeeeah, it was not fun.
and poor babies...they were good sports but were so tired. i can't believe i didn't get a pic with all four grandkids. so we busted out a mini-boom box and some tunes and pretended we were on the beach.
welcome to my beach chair throne
we had everything for my hawaiian luau except for the pig (we had ceviche instead, remember?) and the fire-dancing entertainment...although we did dance.
we had these tiny little 30 candles, which Jonah thought were chocolate lollipops and then chew into one. oh how i wish i had a picture of him eating it. hilarious.
and then it was time to cut the cake. and for my husband to smash it on my face. i'm 30 and i'm still getting cake in mah' face! oy!
so there it is guys...my awesomely failed birthday bash! it was fun regardless. i had my family. i had my drinks. i had my cake. that's all i need. all i'm missing now is that tattoo...hmm.
i am now 30 years old. and everyone knows it. including the people at the resort thanks to Jonah. he made sure to tell every-one that it was his mommy's birthday and she was three-zero years old.
thanks jojo.

you're three months now...

hey guys! i haven't done an update on her in a while...so i thought i would dump all the pictures on here and show off my bebe!!!
but first, Elena says HI!
these past few weeks i've been feeling a little guilty of really showering her with love. i mean, why wouldn't i? look at that face! ...and you should just see her in real life: bright eyed, full of wonder, super attentive, takes massive poops with such joy, and is definitely not camera shy...
but in reality, i feel my two older boys don't get enough of me simply because one is in school 23 hours a day (thanks, public education) and the other one just prefers his blankie and thumb to any kind of cuddles of mine (you know that's a lie) i don't know, it's just that whole spreading-your-love-all-evenly feeling that all moms get once in a while.
moving on!
currently, she just turned 3 months and 1 week so some of these photos she may not have been that old (that's how long I haven't posted an update about her).
when i go out and about, people stop us and ask how old she is. they really can't help but answer "ohh she's three months?? but she's so tiny!" i guess they don't remember that babies are tiny compared to a full grown human. and secondly, have you seen her parents? we are not giants, we are petite. please stop saying our kid is tiny, of course she's going to be tiny! genetics trumps your memory loss + lack of observation. (end rant, (totally justified))
some people give away their surprised reactions when they see her freakishly big eyes or her tiny little head popping out of my Moby Wrap...has no one ever heard or seen baby-wearing? (i'm really touchy today, i can tell)
but I'm not gonna lie...i love it that she gets so much attention. i'm still lucky enough that i get compliments on my well-behaved boys but come on, who can resist commenting on a baby with the cutest headband?
i still say that she looks like her daddy. a total Witty. i'm grateful because he's so darn handsome.
some things we have tried already are the bumbo, a rattle, rice cereal + tummy time. and just like all of my babies, she can only stand them for so long...ha!
the bumbo is such a novelty...the boys loved it when I pulled it out of storage. they found out their skinny legs still fit and pretended to be babies. p.s. Jonah has marker all over his face. he took our joke of being a kitty cat for a day a little too far.
want a throwback? below is Andrew and Jonah at 3 months in the bumbo...man, it's hard to believe they were that little!
why do people ask if she's sleeping through the night? the answer, thankfully, is yes. but really, she's an infant and wakes up at least twice a night to nurse. she takes multiple cat-naps throughout the day and she looks oh-so adorable...
and you know who can put her to sleep the fastest without inserting a nipple into her mouth?
her daddy of course. she fits quite perfectly into the nook of his arm.
do you guys remember when i thought i had a ninja inside the womb? well, she reaffirms my prediction constantly. her hands and feet are in endless motion, often appearing blurry in my phone pictures. when i set her down on the floor, she ends up not where i left her...and that is unbelievable to me right now.
i hear her little feet constantly brush the sides of her bassinet, content as can be. and you know what? i am so thankful for her. i give thanks like 286,492 times a day for her - seriously. i couldn't have asked for a better baby.
but the only faultiness this child has, is her inability to go to another persons arms and not cry hysterically...not even her own Moomie could carry her and that's alarming because every baby loves Moomie.
below is Papa, and she doesn't like him too much either. i keep telling her she needs to because he's the one you don't have to sweet-talk much to wrap around your finger *wink wink*
the best part about this girl? she makes my selfies look so much better.

have you guys heard that song? you must. it's ridiculous.
have a great week, guys!!!!

Painted Flower Pots with Gold Liquid Gilding - a DIY

Whaaat? Two DIY projects in one week!? Crazy, I know!
Hi guys!
I couldn't resist! This is such a super cute and easy DIY...in honor of Spring, and Mother's Day, and my birthday, I decided to paint more flower pots. Because truly, nothing is more inspiring than a whim of motivation and a splash of deadlines - ha! I loved making these, picking out plants for each of the gift recipients, and giving them away!
Supplies are:
  • ceramic flower pots
  • acrylic paints
  • Martha Stewart liquid gilding paint
  • paintbrushes
Seriously, it doesn't get easier than that.
Next, just paint the pot however you desire! Easy designs look best, but I kinda went crazy on that middle pot and I like it too!

Next, just pick your greenery and plant it!
I love the way the purple tones compliment the greens and black on this bottom pic!
Give them away as gifts or keep them all to yourself!

Happy hump day guys!
