Elena the Artist 🖌️

Hello! Welcome to Elena's little art exhibit! Come and be amazed at the ambidextrous little girl who loves to paint and get paint on her!
No seriously, she loves paint. Glitter paint, acrylic paint, watercolors, aquabrush, Lisa Frank coloring pages with the pre-colored animals and all you do is put water on it...
Any.Kind.Of.Paint
She wants it.
And she gets it all over her, my carpet, and also her desk in the studio. It's alright. Let's paint everything.
She knows to clean up and how to wash brushes, she knows to get a rag to wipe messes, etc. She's amazing, that girl.
While I was painting a shelf outside a few weeks back, I set up an easel for her and reused an old canvas board the boys had painted on (they're no good, ahem) and she absolutely loved it.
I don't tell her what to paint. She just tells me what colors to pour and she goes at it.
She is a fan of black... 😒
She filled up the entire canvas and was done....
During studio days, she has a plethora of mediums to choose from (besides paints, duh) From markers to pastels, oil pastels to crayons, and coloring pencils. Her favorites though, are markers.
And she's so savvy, she uses both hands. I mean, she's remarkable (ooooh i love her squishy fingers so much!!)
Yes, I am biased.
She likes to paint and color on herself....
She makes me print out specific characters for her to paint because the 1,000 coloring books just aren't good enough. And I love that she knows to 'stay inside the lines'...it does wonders for my eye-twitching.
Storytime crafts at the library are very fun for her. She will color every.single thing on her craft...she is also a master cutter.
I bet you didn't know she knew how to cut with scissors yet.
She cuts a piece of paper into a billion tiny little pieces and leave them all on my floor. If you're not amazed, then you just haven't had a kid (ha!)
My little artist is so amazing. She makes my days full of joy + laughter (+ frustration). She loves her mama so much so, that when mama is working on shop stuff, she knows to keep a distance in order not to mess her up.
I've also learned not to even hint at using a different color for her, because she's the Color Picker.
We work well.
Most days.

🦄 A Unicorn Riding Birthday Girl 🦄

This has been a long time coming...over a month now 😁. A lot of things have been going on in our lives and I'm finally putting these up! So rejoice and enjoy...
These are from her birthday party where my sister came through with not 1 pony, but 2!!! Elena was absolutely obsessed with these cute furry 'unicorns'.
And yes, I handmade the unicorn horn, the skirt, the girl, and even photographed and edited all the pictures. I am woman, hear me roar! I do have to thank my sister again for handling the unicorn. She is the best, folks! Enjoy.
There will be more posts to come (I promise). I am finally getting down and dirty to making a calendar and hoping to post at least twice a week.

How is your week going?

glitter + flowers on a purple cast

I think some of you may had seen that Elena had a broken arm a few months back. It happened on our swing in our back yard. Specifically, within minutes of this picture being taken:
In her princess gown, on the swing. I turned around after pushing her and minutes later, she was walking towards the house, had a frown on her face and her arm was bent the wrong way.
My baby had a broken arm.
My usual happy-as-can-be princess had a couple of tears streaming down her face.
I quickly called Gary and we headed to the ER.
After a billion questions from a billion people, we finally got her arm xrayed and bandaged. We were told to wait a few days before getting a hard cast on because of the swelling.
The first few days she was doped up with Tylenol, constantly trying to keep the sling in place, and everything she did with her left hand, she now had to adjust. She was not a happy person, can you blame her?
It's ok. She got better at adjusting. She remained calm & carried on -- in her heels & pigtails of course.
A few days later, we went to see the bone doctor. He was so very kind and quick. He had to re-break the bone again once the cast went on so that they could set it straight. I didn't want to "help" because I get queasy if I'm up close and personal. Soon after he set the bone, I had to come in and just hold her because her cry made my heart hurt. I hate when my kids are hurt, don't you?
The video is right here, if you want to click on it. It'll make your heart break.
She chose purple cast tape (like Princess Sofia) and we were off on our merry way!
And next, we did the most logical thing: paint the darn thing! Glitter & flowers everywhere.
She managed well with every day things like brother's practices, playground playing, running, etc......except riding a tricycle. That was hard. But at least she looked cute!
After 4 weeks, the cast needed to come off. And man, that was terrifying! In the end though, we were all so glad that thing was no longer needed. She was healthy & free!
THAT video is here. It is also heartbreaking. The day after, we were able to go on our Disney vacation without a cast. Woo!
All in all, it was quite an experience & I'm glad it's over. SO GLAD.
She's the second little Witty to break an arm...Her daddy broke his arm twice when he was little (his shoulder as a grown man) and her Moomie broke her arm when she was 6.
Is this a right of passage to growing up? Some say yes...It really doesn't matter. What matters is that she gets back to being her spunky little self and that we love on her as much as we can.
And fingers crossed that this is her only broken bone.

I hope you have a great weekend! But tell me your horror stories, I want to hear them!
