AWANA Year recap

HI GUYS! I've been volunteering at my church's AWANA program since 2013. This program is completely amazing for kids. The 2018-2019 year was the best group of kids I've ever had the privilege to lead. They were so on point with their attendance, they were the coolest kids, and I really enjoyed loved listening to them saying scriptures by heart.
In the Spring, the boys worked so hard on their derby cars. They picked out their blocks, painted them (you can see Jonah's paint job was professionally done). And Gary made sure their wheels were nice and streamlined with all of graphite powder.
The boys got up in the ranks but didn't manage to place. It was pretty exciting (for us parents) the kids were bored out of their minds because it takes a long time to go through each heat.
And a few weeks later, where AWANA comes to an end, Elena and the boys walked across the stage to get their awards for completing their book.
Even though this was last year, the kids are close to doing it all over again. But because of the Corona Virus and the country being shut down, we will not be able to have a Sparky drive-in for Elena (she's been looking forward to doing her own since she was 3).
The boys derby car race will also not happen, nor AWANA store night where all the kids who have accumulated points by saying verses can purchase goodies and gifts.
BUT what I most upset is that they won't get to walk across the stage to receive their button and ribbons for finishing their books. The church is trying to decided how to honor the kids' accomplishments this year. Everything is off...
They work so hard every week to say their verses and complete the bible study. I really shouldn't whine -- they keep those verses in their heart so they win anyway. 🙌
