Balloonfest and more

So we went to Balloonfest this weekend here in town. Here are some pictures!

He was SO curious about these horses! Just kept looking at them and pointing at them...

Nana and Papa were here too. Andrew finally likes his Nana!

Sportin' Daddy's hat. He knows how to put it on all by himself!

And they take off!

At night, the glow of the propane was so beautiful! They blew up the balloons, but they didn't take off this time, it was just amazing to see these huge balloons and the glow of the light inside them!

Rock on Pink Floyd...

1st Day of Fall and it couldn't be a more perfect day...

We always meet Gary for lunch, so Gary & Andrew posed at the school after eating.

Picking up little stones

A dried up pecan....

Examining his treasure

Being a goober. He can't yet step up onto the porch yet.

I thought this was a good pose.

Twigs, leaves, anything else that might catch his eye.

We ARE civilized!

Yes, we are! After 6 years of living together and having 4 apartments of our own, we've NEVER had a dining table! So we finally got one thanks to www.craigslist.org. We found a super solid one, and it was such an amazing and affordable find! We felt civilized last night as we ate our delicious pizza and finally got to use our placemats that were wedding gifts from almost 2 years ago! HA!
Since we don't currently have a formal dining area, we had to put it in the kitchen! Gotta do what you gotta do!
So there it is folks, we eat like adults now. Goodbye Little Tikes table!

Ohhhh how a healthy day begins.

So I've been staying at home with Andrew since Gary got a job at the Middle School and I've been finding different ways to keep me entertained.
Cleaning.
Cooking.
Facebook.
Baby Play.
Venturing Out and About.
Working on my website.
Piratebay.org
Looking for a job.
More cleaning.
More cooking.

It's sometimes redundant, but that's why I've branched out to recycling and maybe doing something more healthy. Like actually using my Juice Extractor!

So today, 7 carrots = 1 healthy glass of carrot juice.
This glass of juice, reminded me SO much of Mexico. During our summer vacations when I would help my aunt run the hardware store she owns, around the corner there was always a lady there selling fresh juice. Carrot juice, beet juice, orange juice, celery juice, you name it. They were SO delicious and cheap.

A note about the cooking part, according to the compliments of my husband, I'm beginning to be a very good cook and I owe it all to my mom. I used to say that I never learned to cook because she was always telling us to get out of her kitchen. Well, the 1 year living with her taught me SO many things, not only cooking, that I will never forget. I have made enchiladas from scratch, to a to-die-for american t-bone steak with american sides.
If you think I'm unemployed, you're wrong--I believe thinking of things to cook for your family is a FULL TIME job. This is probably my hardest and toughest job out of the day, and those who know me will believe it.
On to the crafty part of this personal blog...

Well later on during my day, I went to venture into Abilene to see what it had to offer; (mostly to find some used furniture to put into our humble abode and make it feel more homey).
And I went into a store called Palazzo Reale and it reminded me MORE of Mexico. They had hand-painted Talavera sinks! We have one of those in our bathroom in our house in Mexico and I will always want to have one in our own house.

I think they are just the most wonderful mementos of coming from an amazing and artistic culture.

I got this book, called "The Big-A**" Book of Crafts by Mark Montano which is really cool. Here are some of the things I've made from his book. There are other awesome projects in there, but I don't yet have the supplies.

And this shall be my little art space in the duplex...in Andrew's room.

I already know what my next traditional piece is going to be, I just have to sketch it the way I want it and then put it on canvas.

Abilene - Our new home.

Well, we finally made it on our own!
We moved out in August right after Andrew's 1st birthday. Here are some pictures from the last month and a half for all you guys who don't get to see us that often.

Couple of snapshots from our duplex. Our HUGE kitchen with LOTS of space! Needless to say, I love it, but could do without the hideous linoleum!

Andrew's first room. Notice the awesome shelves and the 80's tile glass window. =P

This is our front lawn, our neighbors have a picnic table and grill outside. They're super nice! And we also have a huge backyard which is great for Andrew. He loves every chance he gets to go outside and pick up sticks and rocks.

They have a play area at the mall, and everytime we go to it, I make sure to spend some time there so that Andrew can socialize with other kiddies. What's so funny about this is that, it never fails to have a little girl immediately take his hand and grab and pick him up.
He doesn't care, he's got the biggest smile on his face.

They also have a playground like 5 blocks from our house. To go outside is now becoming one of his most favorite things to do. I always make sure he gets his daily "outside" fill.

This is Andrew with my shades, he loves to grab them from my face and put them on. I think he looks cool. Specially with his hair sticking straight up. This picture is a keeper.

At the park again, somehow Blogger won't let me rearrange my pictures how I want them...I wish they would give us more options on here!!!

Andrew with daddy's cap on his head. It almost fits him, that's how big of a head he has.

This is funny--since Andrew finally cut teeth (4 top, 2 bottom) every time he sees our feet on our ottoman, he will go for our toes. If we're not careful, he WILL bite. So here's daddy teaching him a lesson on how bad toe-bitting hurts.

Bathtime!

I put a headband on him, he looks like he belongs in an 80's music video.

...with Mommy's bra. Yeah, this cracked me up I'm willing to let my embarrassment slide so I can post the Laugh-of-Day Picture...

"Dirty laundry, here I come!"

He found our empty laundry hamper, toppled it over and played in it forever!

Not his first "chipote" (boo-boo, see back some posts), but this was the worst! He tripped on our doorway and fell on our concrete patio...

Backscratcher and daddy's dirty underwear. Anyone say, "ew?"

Everyday is such a joy with him. I love watching him learn new things and figure things out on his own! Yesterday I was so impressed when I handed him some trash and told him to throw it away, and HE DID! I didn't even have to point to the trash, he knew exactly where it was supposed to go. Of course, he throws out the Iron Man fridge magnets too... :(

Well, now that we have fast internet, hopefully I can post things more often on here.
