A Year ago: a New School, New Grades, New Job

The kids began their 2019 - 2020 school year with a bang! It was Kindergarten for our littlest one and boy did she love it! Jonah was skeptical about starting at a new Elementary and leaving all his friends behind. He didn't know it, but he would make a lot more new friends at this amazing new school. And Andrew was jaded as a fifth grader, not truly appreciating that this was his last year in Elementary and onto his way to become a pre-teen soon enough.
We didn't realize that we would never get to finish off our school year due to a 'deadly pandemic' and we managed to lose the excitement about letting out for summer!
I began my first day of work at the same district a few days later. My first real, actual job since becoming a Mom. It was nice working so close to the kids and also having their same schedule. I was very grateful it has worked well for our family.
This was our fall Football family picture!
Here's a montage of the little girl getting used to her new life/schedule:
All naps aside, she loves her class, her teachers, and her school. She has already received a few awards and has stood in front of the entire school to recite the pledge. She is most impressive and I love watching her grow up.
Andrew's teacher sends the parents constant pictures and keeps us up to date with what they're learning, it is such a treat to see my kid in class!
As you can see, it was a period of sleep adjustment for Elena. She is not taking naps anymore this year, but it did take her a few months to adjust. Elena loved her teacher the most, she was the best teacher I've ever had the pleasure to meet. I could never thank her enough for what she did for our little girl.
The boys have been obsessed with devices for all their lives, so they loved the fact they could play relentlessly for over an hour. It was a short time later that I finally had to make them read a book for at least 30 minutes before they could get any play time.
Andrew participated in a lot of events during the school year including robotics, Student Council, and a few drawing contests.
Jonah participated in a lot of school events and achieved numerous awards. He made extremely good friends, and I'm happy that comes naturally for him.
